Welcome to Pleasant Valley Mennonite School

Our People

PVMS is made up of a diverse body of patrons and teachers from many church cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Our board members and administration consist of several church groups, including Mid-Atlantic, Keystone, Weaverland Conference, and Unaffiliated churches; but we receive pastoral oversight from the leadership at Pleasant Valley (a Mid-Atlantic church). We believe that our diversity is a strength when we are united in our mission, vision, and values. We seek to build a school culture that partners with families who want a quality Christian education through an Anabaptist worldview.

Our Academics

  • Core Subjects

Our academic vision at PVMS is to go beyond our foundation of the 3 R's - ’reading, 'riting, and 'rithmetic.  Study and memorization of God’s Word are an important part of our curriculum. We desire to give students a well-rounded view of the world through Bible-based studies of history, geography, and science. Our aim is that every graduate leaves with tools and disciplines to become an asset for God at home, at church, and in the broader community.

  • Music & Art

Our Anabaptist history has handed us a rich legacy of music. Singing has been a key part of encouragement, community, and praise to God for hundreds of years. We endeavor to uphold our tradition of 4-part singing by teaching music theory and chorus class to every grade. We also hold one or two programs for our school community and friends throughout the school year.
Because we want to reflect the characteristics of God in our lives, we want to enable our students to be become creators. Students are taught to appreciate beauty in design and express their ideas through painting, drawing, clay sculpture, and craft projects. Art classes are an excellent outlet for creativity and hands-on learning for students of all ages and abilities.

  • Physical Education

Physical education is an important part of our middle school program. Students not only learn physical discipline and fitness but also build strong character through good sportsmanship and teamwork. More important than winning a game is winning in character . We require good Bible grades and faithfulness in completing homework to play in the final quarterly games.

  • Resource Room

Every child deserves the chance to become the best version of who God created them to be. We have developed a strong Resource Room program that enables each struggling student to find success by providing support and instruction for their individual needs. Our aim is to provide a safe learning environment that nurtures and challenges each student. We desire to empower them with the confidence they need to find their place in life after graduation.

Our Resource Room:

  • Provides individualized support and specialized instruction to address specific student learning challenges or disabilities.

  • Provides accommodation and modifications for students.

  • Provides academic advice for and collaborates with classroom teachers, administrators, and families.
